THE RECKLESS LIFE OF HENRY ROSE

This story includes several rollicking vignettes from the life of the notorious Henry Rose, who was the last man to be hanged in the city of Nelson. From his shenanigans in the mining business to his success as the operator of a floating brothel, this half hour story demonstrates that Henry was a force to be reckoned with!

Excerpt:
“Henry met miners who needed a bit of help with their claims; others who wanted supplies packed up to their remote camps, or samples delivered to an assay office.  He became a full time packer for a spell and got to know the territory between the East Kootenays and Pilot Bay, just like the back of his hand.

“Henry formed and dissolved mining partnerships with abandon, especially when he was recreating with a case of whiskey. He sold and traded his mining claims without benefit of his partner’s approval; he threw them  onto poker tables as collateral, and he bartered them to dance hall girls for ‘services rendered’…”
