Her storytelling specialty is integrating original tales into guided walks to historic sites. However she is equally comfortable performing in a formal indoor setting and was invited to return for a fourth time to perform at the Kootenay Storytelling Festival in the summer of 2006.

Several of Susan’s stories are taken from her own local history books, one of which won second place in the 2002 BC Historical Federation's annual book writing competition.
